Closing - The House is Sold
Well, we finally closed on the sale of the house today. But we still will live here for another month or so. The Buyers are going to be out of town until the end of April and said we could stay in the house as long as we wanted. That was one of the provisions of their offer that made it so attractive in the first place. So, with the stroke of a pen we no longer own a house and we take a major step toward our goal.

Actually, this is a mail forwarding service that is run by an RV club, ESCAPEES. We will not be living at this address although they do have a campground there and we may, from time to time, stay there for a while. Getting our mail is going to be a little slow. Email will be a lot faster. Also, you can send us messages by making a comment to these posts on this BLOG.

Next week, we get the Motorhome out of storage and start loading up our stuff. Our departure date will be the first week of April, we hope.

The Garage Sale
Today we had our Garage Sale. Thanks to Janet's family everything went well. We make a little money and got rid of a lot of stuff we will not have to store.

More Waiting to Close
I call Sadie again to make sure they still plan on buying our house. There are several reasons why we have become concerned and I will post them later. She assured me they were not going to back out. Later, their load agent called me to explain the problem they were having getting the final paper work done. He said there were no issues only paper work. Later in the evening Steve and Sadie came over to look at the stuff we are selling in the Garage Sale. Steve picked out some of the yard tool, ladders and the patio stuff.

Waiting to Close
Our contract indicated that we would close on Feb 21, if there were no unresolved issues. However that was a Holiday. We still did not hear anything on Tuesday. Today, I had the pool inspected, just to make sure there were no problems. They pressure tested all of the lines and did not find any leaks. That was good news. I called Sadie and told them about the inspection. She said that the loan company was still working on the paper work and that we might close on Friday or Monday. We are beginning to get worried.

The Inspections
Sadie had arranged for the termite company to do their inspection at 11:00 a.m. and the house inspector to do his thing at 1:30. They came by several times to make sure everything was OK. There were a few minor items the needed fixing, however, there were nothing major wrong with the house. Steve and Sadie were satisfied. Even after this good news, we are somewhat guarded in our joy, having already been down this path before only to be disappointed in the end. Now we are just waiting to see what happens next.

The Contract
We accepted Steve and Sadie's offer for reasons that I will explain at a later time. They went to their lawyer and had the contract drawn up and brought it over. We then went down to the title company and signed the contract.

Second Offers
Janet and I went to the RV show in Houston. On the way home we got a call from Chris and Twylla's real estate agent. He said they wanted to make an offer so we rushed home. He came over and gave us their offer. He also said they were expecting a counter offer. We said we would think about it. A little later that night, Steve and Sadie called. They wanted to look at the house again. They looked for a few minutes then make us an offer. It included several previsions that made it a very attractive offer. Again we said we would think about it. This is hard to believe, for the second time, we have two offers to consider.

Selling the House 4
Chris and Twylla called today and said they had time to look at the house. Chris had called the week before when we thought Bill and Joanna were going to buy the house. Chris and Twylla came over and looked. They were working with a real estate agent. He came by later and asked us to agree to pay a commissions if they bought the house. Having nothing to lose, we agreed.

Disappointment
Well, Thursday we did not hear back from Bill. Nothing on Friday, either. Today we called them to find out what was going on. They said they were discussing the issue. Later Bill called and said they had changed their minds. I put the sign back in the front yard and called Anna. We also called Chris, who had called us while we thought the house was already sold.

Selling the House 3
This morning, Bill and Joanna called and wanted to come by. They looked again at the house and made a very good offer. About an hour later, Anna called and wanted to come by. She also made an offer, but her offer was dependent on her selling her house. We accepted Bill and Joanna offer. We were very excited to have sold the house in only a little over two weeks. Bill said they had to go to Houston on Wednesday and would get back to us on Thursday to sign the contract.
